The warp is usually a cotton thread of miles, sometimes thick for rags and rags, and others thin for fabrics and purses. Putting the loop on the reel helps us not to get entangled and with the help of the wheel (r(h)odani) we reed it into large reeds of 30 – 40 cm.

Then we pass 1 or 3 reeds together in the antiliai and we go to the wall to “drag” the thread, that is to make a cross. On a wall we fasten at least 4 irons sideways at a certain distance from each other to protrude and over there we pass one from the top iron and one from the bottom, as many times as the eyes of our comb, in this case 1200 walks up and down.

After fixing it so that the threads do not get tangled with each other, we gather it in braids and put it on the loom. There, with patience, the process of slicing begins, one by one thread to pass first through the corresponding eye of the shaft. When they are all finished one by one in the reed, fasten them in place and it is ready to receive the weft.

The weft, made of various materials cotton, silk, rag is neatly rolled on small thin rods which unfold quickly, when you throw the shuttle and slip from one side to the other, leaving behind the appropriate length needed.

[72
80
